Today, as I start on a mission to create 100 blog posts in 100 days, the first thing that needs to be done is address the issue of giving up. Because I’ve tried this before, and the furthest I’ve made it is about six days. So I thought that today, for my first post, I would give some serious thought to why we give up on our projects, our dreams, our ability to get things done, and offer up a few suggestions on how to stay empowered when you feel like giving up. Mostly, it’s a touchstone post for me, so that when I feel like giving up (and I know I will at some point over the next 100 days), I can come back here and remind myself what to do to keep going.
It’s true; the most successful people have the ability to keep going when others would give up. Giving up is a bad habit, one that we learn from childhood. But just as we learned how to give up when we were younger, we can unlearn that habit and create new ones that empower us to keep moving forward, no matter how much we might want to quit.
